“동시대 삶 속에서 인간의 모습은 어떠한가?

나는 이 질문을 품고 자연과 인간 사회를 관찰하며, 식물의 생애에 비유하여 우리를 시각화한다.

꽃과 나무는 각자의 시기에 피어나고, 고유의 방식으로 존재한다. 이러한 개별적인 생명들이 모여 숲을 이루듯, 우리 인간 또한 각기 다른 가치를 지닌 채 집단을 형성한다. 씨앗 속에 감춰진 무한한 가능성처럼, 우리는 각자의 시간 속에서 성장하며 자신의 가치를 발아한다.

하지만 현대의 급변하는 산업 속 휘몰아치는 바람은 나의 길에 대한 방향을 헤매게 하며

소셜미디어를 통해 무수하게 쏟아지는 정보의 과잉은 타인의 시선과 평가라는 무거운 굴레 속에서 나의 존재를 희미하게 한다.

이러한 과정 속 우리는 점차 공산품처럼 획일화 되어가고, 그 안에 속한 개개인은 고유의 가치를 잃어가고 있다.

자연은 우리에게 중요한 교훈을 준다. 나무는 뿌리를 깊이 내리고, 꽃은 자신만의 시간에 피어난다. 우리 또한 마찬가지로 각자의 시간 속에서, 각자의 방식으로 성장할 필요가 있다. 그렇기에 우리는 더더욱 수없이 많은 사물 중 나라는 존재에 대한 탐구가 필요하다.

결국 우리는 어떠한 방식으로 삶을 지향하여야 하는가?

스스로에게 존재 이유를 묻고 답하며, 유한적인 시간 속 나의 가치를 깨닫는 과정의 연속을 통하여 온전히 나라는 ‘존재’를 입증할 수 있다.

이러한 생각들을 바탕으로 나는 개인의 아름다움과 그들이 모여 집단을 이루었을 때의 조화를 작품에 표현한다.

What does it mean to be human in contemporary life?

I explore this question by observing both nature and human society, visualizing our existence through the life cycle of plants.

Flowers and trees bloom in their own time and exist in their own unique way. Just as these individual forms of life come together to create forests, we humans, too, form communities while embracing our own distinct values. Like seeds harboring infinite potential, we each grow within the flow of time, sprouting our own worth.

However, the relentless winds of rapid industrial change often leave us searching for direction, while the overwhelming influx of information through social media burdens us with the weight of external judgments, gradually blurring our sense of self.

Through this process, we become increasingly homogenized, like mass-produced goods, and the individuals within these groups begin to lose their inherent uniqueness. Yet, nature teaches us an invaluable lesson—trees root themselves deeply, and flowers bloom in their own time. Likewise, we, too, must grow in our own way, at our own pace. This is why, now more than ever, we must embark on a journey to explore and understand our own existence amidst the countless objects and distractions around us.

Ultimately, how should we navigate our lives?

By questioning and answering our own existence, and by realizing our worth within the finite span of time, we can fully affirm our identity and presence in this world.

With these reflections in mind, I express both the beauty of the individual and the harmony that emerges when they come together as a collective in my work.
